Why I chose to make this costume:
When I realized AX would be around the same time that Gear 5 would be shown in the anime, I knew I had to get it done for the con. I was also scheduled to work the event with a vendor, so I wanted to pick something pretty easy to wear while vending, but still be relevant to both popularity and personal interest.
How I made this costume:
AX panic in my homie’s living room 5 days before the con.
I made the shirt and the purple belt with fabric I already had on hand. This was a speed build, and also on a budget since I was traveling so much leading up to the con! The pants were purchased and modified.
I styled the wig in a day too using Arda’s Nigel Classic in silver. I wanted something with a lot of wefts that I could spike and swirl.
The straw hat is one of the official Netflix hats that were given out at AX to build hype for the live action debut!
Thoughts on this costume:
Another fun speed build! I didn’t have the deity scarf for the event, but made it day of the shoot on the Salt Flats with good ol’ 16 gauge wire and pillow stuffing – stuff I had on hand.
I really wanted to shoot this on the Salt Flats because of how naturally white everything is, and because of the mountains in the background.
