Why I chose to make this costume:
Yamato is one of my absolute favorite characters in One Piece!! It was also the first cosplay I did a lot of 3d modeling work for.
How I made this costume:
Yamato is almost entirely handmade! The only thing I didn’t make myself were the shoes.
The sleeveless top and the hakama were drafted by me, using my own measurements. All 3d printed pieces were designed by me using a combination of SolidWorks and Maya, and I designed the vinyl cut decals on his chest. You can find all of these files for sale here!!
I have also since taken commissions for this cosplay.
Thoughts on this costume:
Still one of my favorite cosplays. This was also the first cosplay I competed in solo! I entered the cosplay contest as a beginner (because of my lack of experience competing), and walked away in the intermediate class!
